“Why I Love Biodynamic Massage” by Monica Rudestam, LAc., MSOM
The Intermediate Biodynamic Massage workshop challenges us to broaden our perceptive faculties to include the whole of the client in each moment. Shift your perspective from watching one person treating another to feeling one organism animated by quietude. Enhance your quietude palpation skills by developing an ongoing relationship with your pineal gland. Observe the pineal gland direct you to hubs and animate your hands in relationship to those hubs, giving the client a physical massage that is congruent with what their system needs to find harmony. We will explore how to make massage a three dimensional, unifying experience that brings a sense of integrated wholeness for the client.
course highlights
- quietude relevance – understand how the process of biodynamic attunement is influenced by practitioner quietude relative to client quietude. how this quietude differential affects what the practitioner can perceive, and the depth of the client’s healing
- dynamic mudra – in addition to qigong shaking, we explore a practice which trains the hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders to be animated by biodynamic fields instead of the will of the practitioner
- derma body and inner body connections – link practitioner and client bodies to re-establish an experience of non-separation, shifting the felt sense and relational perspective that fosters safety and physiological release
- pineal palpation – learn to palpate with your pineal gland to sense the location of hubs and the palpable texture and other properties of quietude within them
- central channel palpation – learn how to palpate the diameter, continuity and other aspects of the client’s central channel, so you can track long term progress. learn how to feel your own central channel, so you acquire an improved felt sense way to discern where to be placed in space during biodynamic work
- vectoring – develop skill relating the physical tissues to quietude hubs, by adjusting the magnitude and direction of force, to facilitate both tissue neutral and hub neutral simultaneously
- biodynamic pressure – feel biodynamically how to increase or decrease pressure during massage strokes and neutrals, and how this differs from the biodynamic placement of the practitioner in space.
- integrative effleurage – practice giving and receiving effleurage in a way that reconnects dissociated body regions, leaving clients feeling integrated from feet to hands. quality application of integrative effleurage will see your client retention and referral rate soar
