Beginning Biodynamic Massage

Learn how to access stillpoints and quietude while performing massage. Modify pressure and direction of movement during massage to connect with the cranial field and let it release the tension for you. Be guided by the client’s own healing forces. Explore a sensation-based subtle approach to massage that goes beyond intuition and prescribed treatment protocols

This is a small class setting with expert hands-on assistance. Learn how to reach the client’s own self-healing potentcy. Take clients to new depths of relaxation and well being. You will learn how to palpate connective tissue densities and modify your pressure, direction and surface area of contact to elicit change via the cranial system. To follow the body fascia to the source of issues and work where healing resources are already gathered. A way to warm up areas for work that is unique, thorough and primes the system for self healing.


monica rudestam

Monica Rudestam began studying the body through a disciplined yoga practice in 1994. She has taught yoga classes since 1997 and in 2004 began studying Qigong in combination with Acupuncture and manual therapy.  She received her masters in Classical Chinese Medicine in 2009 from the National University of Natural Medicine. In 2008 she began studying biodynamic massage and biodynamic cranial with Todd Jackson.

April Straus

April Straus has been practicing bodywork since 1997 and first trained in craniosacral therapy with the Upledger Institute in 1999. She began studying biodynamic massage and biodynamic cranial therapy with Todd Jackson in 2010, first as a receiver of the work and then as his student. She received her masters in Oriental Medicine in 2003.

Monica and April have both completed the mentorship program with Todd Jackson and help assist his Biodynamic Cranial and Biodynamic Massage classes in Portland, OR. They are honored to be teaching his beginner level classes. This class is a prerequisite to Todd’s intermediate and advanced biodynamic massage classes.

covid precautions

To increase our confidence in attending, we are asking all attendees to commit to enhanced social distancing for 10 days prior to the event (October 11th-21st). This means strict adherence to mask wearing in public spaces, avoidance of large social gatherings and long distance travel (airplane trips, train trips, bus rides). Please refrain from eating within restaurants or visiting bars. Face masks will be worn by all participants, assistants, and teacher during the course.

If any participant develops any cold or flu symptoms, tests positive for COVID, has been exposed to anyone with cold or flu symptoms or someone who has had a positive COVID test within the 10 days of this workshop, they will have their deposit and workshop payments reimbursed in full and their space will go to someone on the wait list.

Final check-in
We will need to do a final check-in the day before the event to comply with OHA guidelines. The following questions will be emailed to all participants on October 21st:

1) Have you had a new or worsening cough?
2) Have you had a fever?
3) Have you had shortness of breath?
4) Have you been in close contact with anyone with these symptoms or anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

If someone is unable to respond ‘no’ to all questions, then they will not be able to attend. If the teacher is unable to respond ‘no’ to all four questions, then the event will be canceled.

This course is a pre-requisite for the Intermediate and Advanced Biodynamic Massage workshops presented by Todd Jackson.
